Adam Scott wins the Masters with Tiger's ex!

Adam Scott clinched his maiden major, becoming the first Australian winner of The 77th Masters at the Augusta National Golf Club - triumphing in a thrilling play-off against Argentine Angel Cabrera in difficult wet conditions this evening.
Matching each other shot for shot over the two holes of the play-off, Cabrera and Scott battled the damp fairways and greens as they competed to take home the coveted green jacket.
Playing over the 18th and 10th holes at the iconic Georgia golf course, Scott, 32, emerged triumphant after sinking a 12-foot put after Cabrera, 43, missed his - sparking wild celebrations between him and caddy Steve Williams - who used to work for Tiger Woods.

The win is all the sweeter for Williams, who was unceremoniously fired by Woods in 2011.
The pair had spent more than 12-years together, winning over a dozen majors together. However, since the stunning 2009 revelations of the golfer's numerous affairs with other women, which led to his divorce - their relationship strained and eventually fell apart.

At the time, the 48-year-old said he felt the decision was a poor reward for more than a decade of service.
Interviewed before he was presented with his maiden green jacket by last years Masters winner Bubba Watson, Scott acknowledged Australia's almost 76-year wait for a winner.
'I don't know how that happened. There was some luck there somewhere. It was incredible. It's incredible to be in this position,' said Scott.
'Australia's a proud sporting nation and it's amazing that it's come down to me today. There was one guy who inspired a nation of golfers and that's Greg Norman. Part of this definitely belongs to him.'

With the two biggest putts of his career, Scott holed a 20-footer for birdie on the 18th hole of regulation that put him into a playoff with Angel Cabrera, and then won his first major championship Sunday with a 12-footer for birdie on the second extra hole.
Scott leaned back and thrust his arms in the air after the putt dropped on the 10th hole, a celebration for all of Australia and personal redemption for himself. It was only last summer when Scott threw away the British Open by making bogey on his last four holes to lose by one shot to Ernie Els.
Scott was close to perfect, and he had to be with Cabrera delivering some brilliance of his own.
Moments after Scott made his 20-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for a 3-under 69 to take a one-shot lead – 'C'mon, Aussie!' he screamed – Cabrera answered with an approach that plopped down 3 feet from the cup, one of the greatest shots under the circumstances. That gave him an easy birdie and a 2-under 70.
They both chipped close for par on the 18th in the first playoff hole, and Cabrera's 15-foot birdie putt on the 10th grazed the right side of the cup.
With his long putter anchored against his chest, Scott's putt was true all the way.
Earlier it looked like Scott was certain to end Australia's wait for a Masters winner when he sunk a stunning long put on the 18th to go one shot clear at nine-under amid wild cheers from the rain soaked crowd and ecstatic fist-pumping between him and caddy Steve Williams.

However, Cabrera displayed nerves of steel when his second approach shot to the 18th landed four feet shot short of the flag - giving him the chance to draw level - which he did, but only after telling the gallery to keep quiet as he made his pressure stroke.
The Masters was the only major an Australian had never won, and Scott was among dozens of golfers who routinely rose in the early hours of Monday morning for the telecast, only to watch a horror show.
The leading character was Greg Norman, who had four good chances to win, none better than when he blew a six-shot lead on the last day to Nick Faldo in 1996.
There was Jim Ferrier in 1952, Bruce Crampton 20 years later, and Scott and Jason Day only two years ago. Norman, though, was the face of Aussie failures at the Masters, and Scott paid him tribute in Butler Cabin before he slipped on that beautiful green jacket.
Meanwhile, Tiger Woods, the overwhelming pre-tournament favorite let another green jacket slip through his fingers as he finished up the final round on five-under-par - capping off a controversial and frustrating weekend for the world number one.
Despite words of support from girlfriend Lindsey Vonn, Woods' next chance to draw closer to Jack Nicklaus' record of 18 major titles won't be until June at the U.S. Open.
Vonn tweeted a message of support for her beau before he teed off today, posting: 'Here we go. If anyone can do it, Tiger can.'

It was the fifth playoff at Augusta National in the last 11 years, and the second in a row with American left-hander Bubba Watson having edged out South African Louis Oosthuizen 12 months ago.
'That how golf is,' 2009 Masters champion Cabrera, who had been seeking a third major title, graciously said greenside. 'I had that chip on 18 ... I could have won it. But Adam is a great winner.
'Obviously I would have been happier if I would have won but he is a great person, a great player. I get along with him. We've been together on Presidents Cups. I'm happy for him.'
There had previously been eight runner-up spots by Australians at the Masters, three of them achieved by Greg Norman.
Cabrera and Scott were both in perfect position off the tee on the first playoff hole but the Australian narrowly failed to hold the green with his approach, his ball spinning backwards before settling just off the fringe.

Cabrera followed suit, venting his frustration after squandering a possible advantage when his second shot rolled back off the front of the green to end up a couple of yards below Scott's ball.
The Argentine came desperately close to holing his chip shot, his ball sliding past the right edge of the cup. Scott's chip came up three feet short but both players safely parred to keep the playoff alive.
At the par-four 10th, both players found the middle of the fairway off the tee. Cabrera, playing first, hit his wedge approach to 18 feet below the hole before Scott fired his to 15 feet.
The Argentine narrowly missed sinking his birdie attempt, his ball tantalizingly ending up on the edge of the cup after curling from right to left.
Scott and his caddy Steve Williams spent a long time lining up the Australian's putt before he settled and stroked the ball toward the hole, loud roars erupting around the green when it disappeared into the cup.

Williams and Woods had formed a close friendship during their time together - attending each others' weddings and their wives, Elin Nordegren and Kirsty Williams, became increasingly close.
Williams said he 'lost respect' for Woods when he admitted to cheating on his wife with a string of women - and hinted that he will tell all in a book one day.
Referring to the scandal after his firing in 2011, he told CNN: 'Well, I think when you're great friends with somebody and a situation like this occurs, you obviously lose some kind of respect.'
He told the channel: 'I've stuck by him through and through. Now he decides things aren't going well for him, and I'm down the road, so the timing's very disappointing.'

Williams also indicated he would write about his partnership with the former world number one in the future.
He said: 'You know, when I write my book, it'll be the time I decide what I write. It'll just be one of those interesting chapters in the book.'
Williams said the pair would struggle to renew their friendship. He said: 'First of all, the person has to gain your respect, and that's something that I feel Tiger has to work hard on.'
And in November of 2011, Williams staggered into a racial controversy when he celebrated a win with current employer Adam Scott as the 'best win of my career'.
When asked why, he said that it would show Woods he didn't need him and '‘It was my aim to shove it right up that black a**ehole.’
Guan Tianlang, the 14-year-old Chinese golfer making a memorable debut at Augusta National by shooting a 3-over 75, his experience not dampened in the least by a debated one-stroke penalty for slow play.
'It's such a great week for me. I learned a lot.'
Guan's performance over four days was truly remarkable for the youngest player by far to play the Masters. He never had a three-putt on Augusta's perilous greens - well, he counts one from off the green - and his worst hole was a bogey.
'I played pretty good,' he said. 'I feel a little bit tired today. There are still a lot of things to improve. My short game's good, but I still need to be better. My driver probably needs to be a little longer.'
Guan made a couple of birdies on the back side, but took a bogey at No. 17 after knocking at shot into a spectator's plastic bag.

At the final hole, he two-putted from about 40 feet for a 12-over 300, receiving a big cheer from the gallery and a handshake from Augusta National chairman Billy Payne.
Guan can't take any prize money since he's an amateur. But he'll get a silver cup as the only amateur to make the cut.
There are no plans to turn pro anytime soon.
'It won't be too early because there are still a lot of things to learn, to improve,' Guan said. 'So nothing to rush.'
Woods had faced disqualification from the tournament after Masters officials discovered late Friday that he had taken a bad drop in the second round and should have added two shots to his score.
The finding had many calling for Woods to withdraw from the tournament.
Six-time major champion Sir Nick Faldo says Woods needs to do 'the manly thing' and withdraw from the tournament after he was spared by a 2012 rule on Friday provided to players believed to have committed an honest mistake.
Woods, however, later admitted to knowingly taking his ball drop two yards further back from where he hit his original shot - a rules violation that provided him with an improper advantage after sinking his ball in Rae's Creek.

Sweet justice: Thomas Vonn, whose ex-wife Lindsey is now dating Tiger Woods, said yesterday on Twitter that he was the one who ratted out Tiger's cheating at the Masters
Yesterday, Vonn's ex-husband jokingly posted on Twitter that he was the television viewer who ratted out Tiger's illegal ball drop.
'No problem Masters tournament happy to call in and help. You always have to keep an eye on those cheaters ;)' Thomas Vonn wrote yesterday while linking to a news story about Woods, who notoriously cheated on his supermodel wife Elin Nordegren with a bevy of women.
'I went back to where I played it from, but went two yards further back and I tried to take two yards off the shot of what I felt I hit,' Woods said on Friday while three shots out of the lead.
'And that should land me short of the flag and not have it either hit the flag or skip over the back. I felt that was going to be the right decision to take off four (yards) right there. And I did. It worked out perfectly.'
It was that statement that launched a firestorm of uproar, and on Saturday led to a 2-stroke penalty by the Masters committee.
'He should really sit quietly with whoever he trusts, [long-time agent] Mark Steinberg, a few others, maybe Lindsey [Vonn, his girlfriend] as well, and sit and just go, "wow, I would be doing the manly thing to go, I have broken the rules of golf,"' Faldo told the Golf Channel on Saturday.
'There is some leeway with the signing the incorrect (score) card. Not with intentionally not dropping as near as possible,' Tweeted David Duval, a former World Number One golfer.
It was a television viewer who brought Woods’ illegal drop on the 15th hole to officials' attention, which would have been otherwise missed, according to a statement by Augusta National.
