The Voice may have suffered its second ratings defeat in a row –
but at least presenter Holly Willoughby has reason to keep smiling.
For while her BBC1 show again lost out to ITV rival Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway, television work and commercial endorsements have seen her amass a fortune estimated at £10million.
Showbusiness agent Tony Fitzpatrick compared her to Eighties presenter Anne Diamond, who worked on breakfast station TV-am and BBC1.
‘Like Anne, Holly appeals to all ages and to both sexes,’ he said. ‘But unlike Anne, she has been able to capitalise on her success financially.
'She may be earning £5million a year at the moment, and that could go up if she breaks America. Holly really breaks the mould.
Very few people manage to combine prime-time careers on the BBC and ITV at the same time.
‘Men fancy her and women like her.
'She doesn’t offend anyone, and she has a good brain.
'She just has to be careful she doesn’t overdo the exposure.’
Miss Willoughby lives in a £1.6million Victorian home in South-West London, with husband Dan Baldwin and children Harry, three and Belle, one.
She is reported to earn £400,000 from The Voice and a £250,000 salary for This Morning.
She is also a regular on ITV2 comedy panel show Celebrity Juice and has fronted advertising campaigns for toothpaste and the Windows Phone.
Miss Willoughby has also launched her own range of dresses online and has written a children’s book with her sister.
However, BBC bosses will be anxious that The Voice’s 6.4million audience was beaten by the 6.8million who tuned in to Ant and Dec – especially as their flagship Saturday night show will go head to head with Britain’s Got Talent this weekend
