JT opened the show impersonating Elton John at Hugo Chavez's memorial.
"You lived your life like a candle in the wind... if a candle could pull out two pistols at a press conference," sang Timberlake. "You said the U.S. causes earthquakes and you outlawed Coke Zero. And on your shoulder stood your parrot with a matching red beret. ... You helped to make a country the kidnapping capital of the world. ... You were hero to your people and you never gave up a fight. We'll Miss you Hugo Chavez, because Live from New York, it's Saturday Night!"
In his monologue he talked about becoming a member of the "Five Timers" club, for hosting five times.
"There are so many exciting things about hosting five times," Timberlake said. "You get to see old friends, you get to try new things. You get to inevitably let everyone down due to incredibly high expectations — thanks, Internet," he quipped.
He then went into a sketch that included Paul Simon, Steve Martin, Dan Aykroyd (a bartender; being an original cast member didn't count for anything more than that), Chevy Chase, Martin Short (a waiter), Tom Hanks, Candice Bergen (who urged leaving "the toilet seat down") and Alec Baldwin. "This place is the best," said Timberlake.
In an It's a Date game skit, Timberlake was joined by his pal and former SNLer Andy Samberg to reprise their D--- in a Box characters, while Martin and Aykroyd brought back their Wild and Crazy Guys as they tried to win a date.
Timberlake went on to play a piece of singing tofu before being joined by surprise musical guest Jay-Z. The two sang their hit, Suit & Tie. Other skits included JT as Caligula and in a Maine courtroom.
