The headline reading, “State trooper, wife killed: Ex-trooper allegedly kills wife and himself”, Fox notes that the reason behind the tragic shooting may have been that the wife of the trooper had filed for divorce several days earlier, and had similarly accused him of beating her two months prior.
Mark Miscavish, a retired state police officer, allegedly killed Tracie Miscavish at the County Market in Philipsburg where the estranged wife worked, reported local authorities.
The state trooper, wife killed headline began after Tracie Miscavish — who had left her estranged husband some time earlier — came back home to gather her things. She believed that her husband was abusing prescription drugs and as she tried to take them from her, he pinned her down and tried to tie her with duct tape.
Miscavish then pointed a gun at his wife, threatening that he would shoot her, but a passerby noticed the shocking situation and quickly came to help. He was charged with only assault at the time, and was bailed out from jail one week later.
Tracie Miscavish officially filed for divorce this week, but her life came to a tragic end this morning after her husband entered a local supermarket with a shotgun, shooting and killing her, then finally turning the gun on himself, concluded the police report.
Her sister, Gina, ultimately said that Mark was "not in his right mind", and the justice system ultimately "failed them."
