Rick Springfield Arrested for Missing Court Date |
Rick Springfield's mug shot from his arrest nearly two years ago. The singer was arrested on Friday for failing to show up to a court appearance, but has since been released.
Rocker and TV doctor Rick Springfield got an unwanted house call Friday from cops serving an arrest warrant.
The “Jessie's Girl” crooner, 63, was hauled off to jail after missing a court date he apparently didn't know about related to a DUI probation.
“My home away from home. Lost hills sheriff station. Arrested this am on a bench warrant,” he wrote in a subsequent Facebook posting that included a photo of the sheriff's booking station just outside Malibu, Calif.
“I didn’t know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it’s been cleared up and i am free to go,” he explained to his faithful fans.
“Thought I might miss the gig tonite but I will be there and we will celebrate together,” he wrote. “Life is not boring. XOXO”
The shaggy-haired singer was arrested in May 2011 after cops spotted his 1963 Corvette speeding down the Pacific Coast Highway.
Springfield was originally arrested for speeding and driving under the influence.
He pleaded no contest last August to misdemeanor reckless driving with “driving under the influence conditions” and received three years of probation.
A bench warrant was issued Wednesday after Springfield failed to show up for a Feb. 11 court date to prove he’d completed some terms of his plea deal, court records show.
Springfield’s signature hit, “Jessie’s Girl,” topped the charts in 1981 and earned him a Grammy for best male rock vocal performance.
That same year he debuted on the popular ABC soap opera "General Hospital" as dashing doctor Noah Drake.
He returned to the show in 2005 after a 23-year absence and has continued as a guest star on a recurring basis.
He's expected to reprise his role yet again for several episodes starting in April, he told People magazine last month.
