Under the news headline, “Hulk rumors shut down by Joss Whedon”, sources report that despite the rumors this week that planning of a “Planet Hulk” film was in the works, EW.com noted that this is not the case. Both director Joss Whedon and actor Mark Ruffalo have said no to the alleged talk.
Mark Ruffalo, “The Avengers” star who played the Hulk, even told fans that he won’t be playing any roles as the giant green superhero again until “The Avengers 2”.
Initially, the Hulk rumors began with a “Planet Hulk” movie being set in motion as its own film in which the Hulk would be transported to another planet and then forced to liberate it from the planet’s oppressors.
Then “World War Hulk” talk began, which this time was even linked with the plot for “The Avengers 2”. However, director Joss Whedon once again confirmed that there’s already a plot line set for “The Avengers 2”, and “World War Hulk” is not in the works whatsoever.
Mark Ruffalo did add that the Hulk rumors may eventually lead to real planning for a standalone film for the Hulk, but it’s certainly a few years off at least.
