North Korea nukes weapons are a 'treasure'

North Korea nukes, A top North Korean decision-making body issued a pointed warning Sunday, saying that nuclear weapons are "the nation's life" and will not be traded even for "billions of dollars."

The comments came in a statement released after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un presided over the plenary meeting of the central committee of the ruling Workers' Party. The meeting, which set a "new strategic line" calling for building both a stronger economy and nuclear arsenal, comes amid a series of near-daily threats from Pyongyang in recent weeks, including a vow to launch nuclear strikes on the United States and a warning Saturday that the Korean Peninsula was in a "state of war."

Pyongyang is angry over annual U.S.-South Korean military drills and a new round of U.N. sanctions that followed its Feb. 12 nuclear test, the country's third. Analysts see a full-scale North Korean attack as unlikely and say the threats are more likely efforts to provoke softer policies toward Pyongyang from a new government in Seoul, to win diplomatic talks with Washington that could get the North more aid, and to solidify the young North Korean leader's image and military credentials at home.

North Korea made reference to those outside views in the statement it released through the official Korean Central News Agency following the plenary meeting.

North Korea's nuclear weapons are a "treasure" not to be traded for "billions of dollars," the statement said. They "are neither a political bargaining chip nor a thing for economic dealings to be presented to the place of dialogue or be put on the table of negotiations aimed at forcing (Pyongyang) to disarm itself," it said.

North Korea's "nuclear armed forces represent the nation's life, which can never be abandoned as long as the imperialists and nuclear threats exist on earth," the statement said.

North Korea has called the U.S. nuclear arsenal a threat to its existence since the 1950-53 Korean War, which ended in a truce, not a peace treaty, leaving the peninsula still technically at war. Pyongyang justifies its own nuclear pursuit in large part on that perceived U.S. threat.

While analysts call North Korea's threats largely brinkmanship, there is some fear that a localized skirmish might escalate. Seoul has vowed to respond harshly should North Korea provoke its military. Naval skirmishes in disputed Yellow Sea waters off the Korean coast have led to bloody battles several times over the years. Attacks blamed on Pyongyang in 2010 killed 50 South Koreans.

The plenary statement also called for strengthening the moribund economy, which Kim has put an emphasis on in his public statements since taking power after the death of his father, Kim Jong Il, in late 2011. The United Nations says two-thirds of the country's 24 million people face regular food shortages.

The statement called for diversified foreign trade and investment, and a focus on agriculture, light industry and a "self-reliant nuclear power industry," including a light water reactor. There was also a call for "the development of space science and technology," including more satellite launches. North Korea put a satellite into orbit on a long-range rocket in December. The United Nations called the launch a cover for a banned test of ballistic missile technology and increased sanctions on the North.

The central committee is a top decision-making body of the North's ruling Workers' Party. The committee is tasked with organizing and guiding the party's major projects, and its plenary meeting is usually convened once a year, according to Seoul's Unification Ministry. South Korean media said the last plenary session was held in 2010 and that this was the first time Kim Jong Un had presided over the meeting.

The White House says the United States is taking North Korea's threats seriously, but has also noted Pyongyang's history of "bellicose rhetoric."

On Thursday, U.S. military officials revealed that two B-2 stealth bombers dropped dummy munitions on an uninhabited South Korean island as part of annual defense drills that Pyongyang sees as rehearsals for invasion. Hours later, Kim ordered his generals to put rockets on standby and threatened to strike American targets if provoked.

A Word of Caution From Rubio on Immigration

Updated As several of the senators taking part in a bipartisan effort to overhaul to the nation’s immigration laws appeared on the Sunday talk shows to sound an optimistic note, Senator Marco Rubio, Republican of Florida and a member of the group, offered a strongly worded note of caution: “No agreement on immigration legislation yet,” read a headline, in all capital letters, of a statement released by his office on Sunday.

“I’m encouraged by reports of an agreement between business groups and unions on the issue of guest workers,” Mr. Rubio said in the statement. “However, reports that the bipartisan group of eight senators have agreed on a legislative proposal are premature.”

Mr. Rubio was referring to news reports on Saturday saying that the nation’s leading business and labor groups had reached an agreement on a guest worker program for low-skilled workers — an issue that had been among the final sticking points in the overall immigration negotiations among the group of eight senators.

“We have made substantial progress, and I believe we will be able to agree on a legislative proposal that modernizes our legal immigration system, improves border security and enforcement and allows those here illegally to earn the chance to one day apply for permanent residency contingent upon certain triggers being met,” Mr. Rubio said. “However, that legislation will only be a starting point.”

Double murder of North Texas prosecutor and wife was targeted attack

The bodies of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were found Saturday night in their home. Sources said the couple had been fatally shot. Their deaths come about two months after an assistant district attorney was killed.

HANDOUT/REUTERS

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland was found dead when a police officer and friend checked on him and his wife Saturday night and found the door to their home open.

The shocking killing of a North Texas prosecutor and his wife inside their home doesn't appear random, a local official said Sunday.

Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife, Cynthia, were found with fatal gunshot wounds Saturday — two months after Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was gunned down outside of a nearby courthouse.

Forney Mayor Darren Rozell said that the McLelland murders appear to be a “targeted attack” potentially linked to Hasse's death.

“Obviously, it’s a tragedy and shock, but we don’t want to think that the Forney community at large is being targeted,” Rozell told the Daily News.

The McLellands lived in an unincorporated area of Kaufman County near the city of Forney, southeast of Dallas.

Rozell said Mike McLelland, 63, was well-known in the tight-knit community of more than 15,000.

“He was visible and personable, and he had a great sense of humor,” Rozell said. “We need to continue to pray for the McLelland family.”

Kaufman County sheriff’s Lt. Justin Lewis declined to say how the couple died or whether authorities believe their deaths are linked to Hasse’s. Police, FBI agents, Texas Rangers and deputies are all part of the investigation.

The Associated Press
The body of Cynthia McClelland, 65, was found in front of the house, and her husband, 63, was found in the hallway, possibly trying to flee.

A police officer and friend of the couple had checked on them Saturday night and found the door open, reported.

The body of Cynthia McLelland, 65, was found in the front of the house, while her husband was found in the hallway, possibly trying to flee, sources told WFAA-TV.

They said the weapon may have been a .223-caliber assault rifle with about 14 rounds fired.

Kaufman Police Chief Chris Aulbaugh told The Dallas Morning News that the McLellands had been shot in their home, and although investigators didn’t know if their deaths were related to Hasse’s killing, they couldn’t discount it.

“It was a shock with Mark Hasse, and now you can just imagine the double shock. And until we know what happened, I really can't confirm that it's related. But you always have to assume until it's proven otherwise,” Aulbaugh told the newspaper.

Sam Rosander, who lives in the same unincorporated area of Kaufman County as the McLellands, told The Associated Press on Saturday that sheriff’s deputies were parked in the district attorney’s driveway for about a month after Hasse was killed.

Aulbaugh said recently that the FBI was checking to see if Hasse’s killing could be related to the March 19 killing of Colorado Department of Corrections head Tom Clements, who was gunned down after answering the doorbell at his home.

Evan Spencer Ebel, a former Colorado inmate and white supremacist who authorities believe killed Clements and a pizza deliveryman two days earlier, was killed in a March 21 shootout with Texas deputies about 100 miles from Kaufman.

Courtesy Kaufman County Sheriff's Office
Kaufman County Assistant District Attorney Mark Hasse was shot to death on Jan. 31 just outside a courthouse in North Texas. An official believes the killings may be connected, though others are less certain.

Hasse was chief of the organized crime unit when he was an assistant prosecutor in Dallas County in the 1980s, and he handled similar cases in Kaufman County.

Investigators had been looking into the possibility that violent white supremacist gang the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas was involved in the killing.

“Anything anybody can think of, we're looking through,” McLelland said after Hasse’s death.

McLelland graduated from the University of Texas before a 23-year career in the Army, according to the website for the district attorney’s office. He later earned his law degree from the Texas Wesleyan School of Law.

He and his wife had two daughters and three sons. One son is a police officer in Dallas.

McLelland and his wife had moved into the home within the past few years, Rozell said.

“Real friendly, became part of our community quickly,” Rozell said. “They were a really pleasant happy couple.”

Bieber to be prosecuted? Run-in with his Neighbor

Justin Bieber Drives the white ferrari car
Bieber to be prosecuted? Canada Pop-star Justin Bieber most likely face criminal charges when it comes to a recent run-in with his neighbor. If the L.A Sheriffs has there way Justin will get under prosecution.

The 19-year-old pop star spit at his neighbor and threatened his life, after the Calabasas man -- and father of three -- complained about Bieber's reckless driving. (Bieber often unnecessarily peels out of local strip malls in his fast cars, area locals have complained.) The neighbor, however, is not happy at the excessive speeds at which Bieber and his posse drive through his ritzy neighborhood.

This past Tuesday (March 26), Bieber reportedly took out his Ferrari at 8:00 AM for a 100mph spin through his gated posh community. Bieber's neighbor went over to his property and yelled, "You can't drive like this!" in the morning. Bieber's response? "Get the f**k out of here. I'm gonna f**king kill you," he said and then spit in his face.

The neighbor, a successful businessman, filed a battery report and is not backing down.

Instead of dismissing the report, the L.A. County Sheriff's Department will pass along their investigation to the L.A. County District Attorney so that criminal battery charges can be filed against the singer, TMZ reports. Even though it was only spit, the action is considered an assault as the California assault law doesn't require an actual injury, but rather applies to performing an act that is likely to result in the application of force to another person. Although unlikely, if convicted, Bieber could be charged with a misdemeanor and face up to six months in the county jail, community service, and/or a maximum fine of $1,000.

The "Baby" singer, who raked in $55 million last year, has been rather aggressive as of late. He told a combative London photographer “I’ll fucking beat the fuck out of you” this past March, and has been on the attack when it comes to his Twitter feud with the Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney.

Fifth-graders murder trial: Plot to Kill Girl

Fifth-graders murder trial, A 5th graders murder case trial to take place soon and the two fifth-graders, a ten-year-old and 11-year-old boy are accused in the case of having planned to rape and kill a girl and eliminate six other classmates if they got in the way, will be tried as juveniles. During an arraignment hearing on Friday in which the two fifth-graders pleaded not guilty, a judge determined that both fifth graders “will stand trial as juveniles,” reported Reuters on March 29, 2013.

On Feb. 7, 2013, the two fifth-graders allegedly devised a murder plot to kill a girl and several classmates by using a knife with a 3¼-inch blade and a .45-caliber Remington 1911 semiautomatic handgun.

The knife, the semiautomatic handgun, and an additional ammunition clip were found shortly before 8 a.m. in the backpack of the 10-year-old student after another fourth-grade student told a teacher about having seen a fifth-grader with a knife.

“When questioned separately shortly after the weapons were discovered, the boys admitted their plot, authorities said. ‘I was going to kill her with the knife and [the other boy] was supposed to use the gun to keep anyone from trying to stop me or mess up our plan,’ the older boy told detectives. When shown a class list, the boy identified six other classmates who were targeted.”

Both fifth-grade students were attending Fort Colville Elementary School in eastern Washington, about 215 miles east of Seattle, and have since been suspended from school.

After the news about the two fifth-graders murder plot became public in February, it was unclear on how a judge would approach the case.

In Washington State, children under the age of eight are considered incapable of committing criminal acts and that children between the ages of eight and 12 are similarly considered incapable of committing a criminal act but that a court hearing would determine whether children at that age are capable of committing a crime.

On Friday, Stevens County Superior Court Judge Allen Nielson determined during the hearing that the boys had the capacity to understand right and wrong and that they can stand trial despite their age.

The 10-year-old suspect was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, juvenile firearm possession, and witness tampering. The 11-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, possession of a dangerous weapon at school, and tampering with a witness.

If the two fifth-graders will be found guilty of all charges, they could be facing sentences from “103 to 127 weeks” which are about two to three years.

Stevens County prosecuting attorney Timothy Rasmussen commented in regard to the fifth-graders murder trial and the actions of the two boys that "This was a plan. And it was a plan to kill."

Bieber to be prosecuted? Scuffle With Neighbor

Bieber to be prosecuted? The Young Popstar Justin Bieber could get under the axe of Sheriff Authorities to be prosecuted. Simply if the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department makes there way through, they planned to push for young star Bieber to be prosecuted for spitting on his neighbor, according to a TMZ report on the  March 30 Day.

The incident involved eyewitnesses claiming that Bieber spit on a neighbor in a "fit of anger," although Bieber denies the incident. This came about when the neighbor went to Bieber's house to complain about him allegedly driving his Ferrari at high speeds in the gated community, endangering the residents there.

Bieber allegedly flipped out, spit in the neighbor's face and then threatened to kill him. Bieber denied these allegations but there is now a chance for Bieber to be prosecuted as a landscaper working beside the house came forward and said he saw Bieber spit in the neighbor's face.

The victim was a 47-year-old father of three who lived there for 10 years and that makes sense when considering he was angry as the reckless driving. Now, the police want Bieber to be prosecuted because of his "disregard for the law," including speeding tickets, fights, reckless driving, drugs allegations and more.

According to TMZ, the Sherriff's Department wants Bieber to be prosecuted, not to put him in jail, but to force him to get held to prevent the "dangerous path" they see him headed down.

Fifth-graders murder trial Plan To murder Classmate

Murder Conspiracy of Classmate
Fifth-Graders Murder Trial, Two boys of class fifth-grade from the Washington state, is being accused in a foiled plot to rape but thats not all also to kill a girl and kill or harm six other classmates, will stand trial as juveniles, a prosecutor said on Friday.

Stevens County Prosecutor Tim Rasmussen said the boys, 11 and 10, pleaded not guilty during an arraignment on Friday over the alleged murder-rape plot that also targeted other children in Colville, Washington, about 215 miles east of Seattle.

One of the boys wanted the girl dead because "she's rude and always made fun of me and my friends," according to court documents.

"There are very few prosecutions of a crime of this magnitude with boys of this age," Rasmussen told Reuters.

Stevens County Superior Court Judge Allen Nielson determined during the hearing that the boys had the capacity to understand right and wrong, Rasmussen said.

Under Washington state law, children ages 8 to 12 are presumed not to have the mental capacity to form an intention to commit a crime. Juvenile court is typically reserved for defendants between ages 12 and 18.

The 10-year-old suspect was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, juvenile firearm possession and witness tampering, Rasmussen said.

The younger boy had taken a gun that originally belonged to his grandfather from his older brother's room, according to a declaration of probable cause.

The 11-year-old was charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, possession of a dangerous weapon, a knife, at school and tampering with a witness, Rasmussen said.

The boys planned to lure the girl away from school in Colville, a town of 4,600 people in eastern Washington, according to court documents.

A teacher found a list of six more targeted classmates, prosecutors said.

The fifth-graders had boarded a school bus on February 7 with a knife, a semi-automatic pistol and ammunition in a backpack on their way to Fort Colville Elementary School, prosecutors said.

A fourth-grader on the bus saw the knife and reported it to a teacher's aide, prosecutors said. One of the suspects later said he would kill the student who told school officials about the weapons, they said.

If convicted of all charges, the boys could each be sentenced to 103 to 127 weeks unless a judge finds "manifest injustice" and orders a longer sentence, Rasmussen said.

The boys have been expelled from the school district indefinitely. A status hearing is set for April 8.

A pilot fell from this small plane without a parachute after having trouble controlling the plane, a flight instructor who was able to land the plane said. A search was on for the pilot in the Collegedale area.
Body of Pilot Found, who has fell 2500 feet from plane found in Tennessee. Search crews in rural Tennessee have found the body of a man who fell an estimated 2,500 feet to his death after the cockpit canopy of his airplane opened, officials said on Saturday.

"They found him in a tree line, not too far off the road," about a half-mile from a volunteer fire station, said Bob Gault, spokesman for the Bradley County Sheriff's Office.

Gault said he would have to wait until the National Transportation Safety Board completes an investigation before confirming reports that the man was not wearing his safety harness and that the plane had gone into a nosedive at the time of the accident late on Friday afternoon.

Emergency personnel from Bradley County as well as a Tennessee Highway Patrol helicopter were called into the search for the missing man after his co-pilot was able to fly the plane back to Collegedale Municipal Airport after the accident, according to Gault.

Local reports said that man who died was an experienced pilot who was being trained to fly the plane, which he had recently purchased.

Gault said the single-engine aircraft left Collegedale Municipal Airport just outside Chattanooga between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday. The flight path took them over southern Bradley County, a rural area with many farms and few communities.

"There were two pilots on board," Gault said. "At some point during their flight, the canopy on the aircraft malfunctioned and, as a result, one of the pilots was ejected."

Search efforts from the air and on the ground were unsuccessful Friday night and resumed on Saturday morning. Gault said the fact that the body was in a tree line probably kept it from being spotted from the air.

The names of the pilots involved have not been released. A worker at the airport who asked not to be identified said both men were experienced pilots and "real nice guys."

Laker's Bentley crash, Car Involved in Alleged DUI

Michael Lacey The Driver of the Bentley Crash
Laker's Bentley crash, The driver of a black Bentley owned by LA Lakers’ forward Jordan Hill's Bentley was reportedly involved in a DUI, but Hill was not driver

The Bentley convertible of Lakers forward Jordan Hill was involved in a traffic accident early Saturday morning.

According to California Highway Patrol Officer Monica Posada, the vehicle, which was not being driven by Hill, crashed into a condominium complex in Marina Del Rey about 2 a.m.

While Hill lives in the building that was struck, he wasn't in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Firefighters inspect the accident scene where a Bentley owned by Lakers foward Jordan Hill crashed.
The driver, identified as Michael Lacey, 26, was arrested on suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

The accident reportedly ruptured a gas line that was shut down by firefighters.

"Officers followed a trail of blood from the car to an elevator and from the elevator to Hill's residence," said Posada.

Hill was questioned about the crash but was not arrested.

The Lakers forward is currently sidelined while recovering from hip surgery. Hill isn't expected to be healthy until June, although an earlier return might be possible if the Lakers make an extended playoff run.

Currently the team is in ninth place in the Western Conference standings and hoping to overtake the Utah Jazz for the final playoff spot.

Authorities stand at the site of a burnt out cabin near Angelus Oaks, California February 13, 2013, where police believe they engaged in a shootout with fugitive former Los Angeles police officer Christopher Dorner.
Dorner reward shrinks, for dead California fugitive policeman $1 million reward offer shrinks. Second group has pulled its money from a pooled $1.2 million reward offered during a manhunt for a renegade former California policeman who died in a fiery standoff, a Los Angeles television station said.

The Peace Officers Research Association of California withdrew the $50,000 it pledged for information leading to the arrest and conviction of Christopher Dorner, KNBC said.

An official for the association, which represents 64,000 police union members, told the television station on Friday that the conditions for the reward had not been met because Dorner was not arrested.

On Monday, the city of Riverside, California, pulled its $100,000 contribution to the reward pool for similar reasons. It said its offer was contingent on Dorner's capture.

Dorner had been fired from the Los Angeles Police Department and was accused of killing four people in a vendetta against police. He shot and killed himself in a burning cabin in the mountains above Los Angeles during a standoff with police on February 12.

Dozens of groups and municipalities pledged money for the reward during the intense nine-day manhunt, and a payout announcement is expected in mid-April.

At least three people have submitted claims for the reward. Karen and Jim Reynolds called police after Dorner tied them up in their Big Bear Lake condominium and fled in their SUV shortly before his death.

Dorner crashed their SUV and carjacked a pickup truck from another man, Rick Heltebrake, who also called authorities, and has submitted a reward claim.

Phil Ramone Legendary Music Producer Dies at 72

Phil Ramone Dies, A former violin prodigy and expert engineer, he worked with Dylan, Sinatra, McCartney, Bennett, Charles, Streisand, Simon, Joel and Bacharach and spent more than 50 years in the business.

Phil Ramone, the instinctive music producer whose mixing mastery for Frank Sinatra, Barbra Streisand, Bob Dylan, Ray Charles, Paul Simon and Billy Joel helped fashion some of the most sumptuous and top-selling albums of his era, has died. He was 72.
our editor recommends

The 14-time Grammy winner and 33-time nominee once dubbed "The Pope of Pop" was hospitalized in late Feb. with an aortic aneurysm in New York and died Saturday morning at New York Presbyterian Hospital, according to Ramone's son Matt.

A native of South Africa who at age 10 performed as a violinist for Queen Elizabeth II, Ramone spent years working as a songwriter, engineer and acoustics expert in New York before charting a path that would make him a trusted studio partner in the eyes (and ears) of the industry's biggest stars.

Among the albums on which he worked were Streisand's 1967 live A Happening in Central Park; Paul & Linda McCartney's Ram (1971), sandwiched between the Beatles and Wings eras; Dylan's aching Blood on the Tracks (1975); Simon's pop classic Still Crazy After All These Years (1975); Joel's critical and commercial breakthrough The Stranger (1977); Sinatra's last-gasp Duets (1993), a model of technical wizardry; and Charles' final album, the mega-selling Genius Loves Company (2004).

Ramone served as a songwriter in New York's famed Brill Building music factory and worked early on with Quincy Jones, Tom Dowd, Creed Taylor, Jerry Leiber & Mike Stoller and Burt Bacharach & Hal David, among others. In 1959, he launched the A&R Recording studios on Seventh Avenue in New York, where Blood on the Tracks and so many other classics were recorded.

Asked to describe his philosophy as a producer, Ramone told Sound on Sound magazine in 2005: "I served a long time as an engineer and watched many famous producers work, and I decided on the personality that came most easily to me, which is the more relaxed; to give artists encouragement when needed.

"Players are like prodigies, thoroughbreds," he added. "You have to handle them with care."

Born on Jan. 5, 1941, Ramone at age 3 began studying the piano and violin, and he attended the Juilliard School in New York as a teenager. Although he was an accomplished performer and composer, he was attracted to the technical side of music and became a wizard working with the dials.

In 1964, Ramone engineered the classic bossa nova album Getz/Gilberto, from American saxophonist Stan Getz and Brazilian guitarist Joao Gilberto. It would become one of the biggest-selling jazz albums of all time and earn him his first Grammy, for best engineered recording. It also won the album of the year Grammy.

Later in the decade, he worked with folk superstars Peter, Paul and Mary, then won another Grammy in 1969 as co-producer of the original Broadway cast album of Promises, Promises, with music and lyrics by Bacharach and David.

Ramone's career reached another level in 1975 when he produced Simon's Still Crazy After All These Years -- which featured the No. 1 single "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover" and won Ramone a Grammy for album of the year -- and Blood on the Tracks.

About the Dylan album, Ramone said: "It turned out to be the best four days of what Bob Dylan does, which is he wanders from song to song, sometimes coming back to the first one. Other than changing the roll of tape, you just had to let it all happen."

In 1977, he produced Kenny Loggins' Celebrate Me Home, Phoebe Snow's Never Letting Go and Joel's The Stranger, which kicked off a seven-album, decade-long relationship with the Long Island-raised singer-songwriter. He and Joel were "both lunatics," he once said.

Dorner reward shrinks Contributors cite Fine Print

Photos from the scene where Fugitive ex-cop Christopher Dorner was consumed by flames during a standoff with cops.
Dorner reward shrinks, When cop killer Christopher Dorner was on the loose and terrorizing southern California, some 30 groups joined together to put a $1 million price on his head. But after the former LAPD officer killed himself while barricaded in a mountain cabin in February, some of those groups have gotten stingy.

A law enforcement union became the latest of the contributors to voice second thoughts about its $60,000 share of the reward, following a similar decision by the city of Riverside to withdraw its pledge of $100,000. With Dorner dead and no shortage of prospective claims to the pot, it seems some of the groups behind the reward have developed an appreciation for fine print. Specifically, the part that authorized a payout for information leading to the "arrest" and "conviction."

“It’s on hold,” Ron Cottingham, president of the 64,000-member Peace Officers Research Association of California, told FoxNews.com. “The authorization for that pledge came from the board of directors. And since the circumstances under which they offered the pledge toward the reward do not seem to have been fulfilled, it’s still on hold.”

A couple who was bound in their mountain condo by Dorner and a camp caretaker he carjacked have laid claim to the reward, which officials have said they hope to dole out by mid-April. Both parties say they provided authorities the crucial tip that allowed police to corner Dorner in a vacant mountain cabin before killing himself after a shootout on Feb. 12. Dorner, 33, killed four people, including two police officers, during his weeklong rampage.

“It is a very unique situation because we have so many jurisdictions involved and so many people pledging rewards."

- LAPD spokesman Richard French

During that manhunt — portions of which were broadcast live on national television — LAPD Chief Charlie Beck and Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa coordinated a $1 million reward from more than 30 agencies, corporations and associations including the FBI, the U.S. Marshals Service, the Los Angeles Dodgers, AEG and the University of Southern California. And while crime rewards typically lead tipsters to protect their identities, the well-publicized killing spree had the opposite effect, according to LAPD detective.

“Everybody’s coming out of the woodwork on this one,” LAPD Detective Andy Neiman told the Associated Press. “These people are being very public about it because they know Dorner can’t come after them.”

Both Beck and Villaraigosa have said they’d like to see the reward paid out. LAPD spokesman Richard French told FoxNews.com that authorities from the relevant agencies will meet in the next two weeks to correlate their findings regarding the reward and determine who was ultimately responsible for Dorner’s capture.

“It is a very unique situation because we have so many jurisdictions involved and so many people pledging rewards,” French told FoxNews.com.

The city of Riverside, however, which saw one of its officers gunned down by Dorner, has announced its pledge of $100,000 is no longer on the table.

City spokeswoman Cindie Perry, who did not return requests for comment, told the Los Angeles Times that the City Council resolution indicated that the reward money was for information leading to an arrest and conviction — neither of which were met.

“Because conditions were not met, there will be not be a payment of a reward by the city,” Perry told the newspaper in an email.

Jim Carrey vs. Fox News: Engaged in War of Words

Jim Carrey Handsome Look with Glasses on.
Jim Carrey vs. Fox News Engage in War of Words The feud between conservatives and a male personality comedian Jim Carrey continued on Friday as Carrey released a statement slamming Fox News and making fun of the backlash against his recent music video mocking Charleton Heston.

“In my opinion Fux News [sic] is a last resort for kinda-sorta-almost-journalists whose options have been severely limited by their extreme and intolerant views,” Carrey said in his statement. “A media colostomy bag that has begun to burst at the seams and should be emptied before it becomes a public health issue.”

According to the Huffington Post, Carrey has continued fending off criticism on Twitter since releasing “Cold Dead Hand,” in which he said Heston, a conservative icon and National Rifle Association advocate, had an “itty bitty gland.”

“I would take them to task legally if I felt they were worth my time or that anyone with a brain in their head could actually fall for such irresponsible buffoonery,” Carrey wrote. “That would gain them far too much attention which is all they really care about.”

Carrey has also been knocked by conservative pundits like radio host Laura Ingraham and Fox News host Greg Gutfeld.

The Voice that faded to just a whisper: As BBC show

High-fiving Sir Tom Jones in front of nine million TV viewers, she seemed to have the world, or at least the music industry, at her feet.
A year on, some fans of The Voice may struggle to remember Leanne Mitchell’s name.
As the BBC1 talent show returns for a second season tonight, sources have privately admitted its first winner has been a disappointment…and even Sir Tom thinks it would have been better if she hadn’t won.

The 29-year-old, who still lives in a semi-detached bungalow in Lowestoft, Suffolk, failed to enter the top 40 with her first single.
Almost a year since her victory she hasn’t released an album or been on tour – calling into question the credibility of a programme that boasts it is a springboard for musical success.
Members of the former holiday camp entertainer’s management team told the Daily Mail she appears to be a reluctant star who has refused to co-operate with publicity opportunities to boost her profile and failed to work as hard as The Voice runners up Bo Bruce and Tyler James.

A source said: ‘Leanne is wary of fame and doesn’t aspire to be a massive star. She just wants to sing. Unfortunately for her, you have to promote yourself if you want people to buy your music.’
Meanwhile Sir Tom, who returns as a coach this weekend after mentoring Miss Mitchell to victory last year, accused her record label, Universal Music, of mismanaging her career.
Asked why she has failed to make a mark in the music industry, he said: ‘I think they [Universal] rushed it.
‘The one problem is if you win The Voice, it’s out of your hands completely. Because you’re signed to Universal Records, with management, agency, the whole thing.
‘So you can’t do much for that person after you’ve got that person to win. If you want to do something with them further, it’s better that they don’t win.’
Miss Mitchell’s only release to date, a cover of Run To You by Whitney Houston, was a flop, selling just 7,000 copies last June and reaching number 45 in the charts.
By contrast, all nine winners of The Voice’s ITV rival, The X Factor, have recorded number one singles at their first attempt.
She suffered further disappointment in September when the show’s official live tour, due to showcase its eight finalists, was cancelled following poor ticket sales.
Her debut album – called Leanne Mitchell – was originally set for release in April but has been postponed until May 27.

Perhaps surprisingly, given her young age and lack of starting career success, the singer will release an autobiography, entitled Finding My Voice, on April 18.
A source on the BBC show said: ‘Leanne’s trajectory since The Voice has been a disappointment. She has not been the best advert for the show.’
Some of last year’s runners-up appear to have achieved far more. Bo Bruce, 28, saw a re-release of her 2010 single Search The Night reach number two in the online charts a week after The Voice ended last year. She subsequently signed to Mercury Records.

Does Justin know? Lil Twist threw raucous 'pot party'

He caused up to $10,000 in damage to friend Justin Bieber's Ferrari in January, and racked up a fine on another one of the singer's luxury cars in February.
But Lil Twist appears to still be at the receiving end of the 19-year-old singer's generosity, and it seems he is still abusing it.
New pictures have emerged showing a messy, alcohol strewn scene at Justin's Calabasas mansion last week that are said to be of a party thrown by the 20-year-old Texan rapper while his famous friend was wrapping up his tour in Europe.

Lil Twist and another friend, who were staying at the 19-year-old pop star's pad while he was away, invited 40 girls and a handful of male friends to the house last Tuesday night, according to TMZ.
The pictures were apparently taken near the end of the party, and show a table covered in beer cans, bottles of spirits and a large hookah pipe.
'Marijuana smoke was permeating the singer's home,' reports the website, and beer was flowing, which was evident from the empty bottles and cans strewn over the tables.
In another picture, two partygoers are pictured in front of a Bob Marley poster in Justin's home.
The spot appeared to be a popular photo destination, as Lil Twist also had his photo taken in front of the picture, which he posted on his Instagram account.
According to TMZ, a girl who attended the party said the party was still in full swing when she left at 2am.
The website reports that none of the neighbours complained.
Lil Twist has been labeled a 'bad influence' on the Baby hitmaker after sources said the rapper had supplied him with marijuana in January.
The guy pals even celebrated New Year's Eve together with champagne in Mexico, where they were both of legal drinking age.

Justin has been in hot water quite a lot in recent times.
He has made headlines over the past few months for his increasingly erratic behaviour, and is currently under investigation for spitting in his neighbour's face on Tuesday during an altercation.
The neighbour Jeff Schwartz - a 47-year-old successful businessman and father of three - is said to have asked Justin on Tuesday to slow down his driving in the quiet neighbourhood in Calabasas, California, leading to Justin responding with foul language.
Apparently he said, 'Get the f**k out of here. I'm gonna f**king kill you,' at the same time projecting saliva onto the man's face.
Mr Schwartz's wife, Suzie, told TMZ that the young pop star is 'a punk.'
The concerned neighbour explained: 'He thinks he's invincible. He can't continue to have a bunch of enablers around him.'
Suzie added: 'Spitting on someone is unacceptable.  He can't do this to people.'
